The End of My IT Training Stint
It seems like only yesterday that I just started my IT Training stint. I first started doing IT Training when I was at Springfield Sec on 27th of Sep 2005. I met new people and students. I remember being quite nervous at that time, having to face so many pairs of eyes! But as the days went buy, I got used to it. My colleague at that time was Wah Kheong. He was a nice colleague to work with and I enjoyed working with him.
Come 15th of Dec 2005 when my contract ended and I had to leave Springfield Sec. I decided then not to start work again because of my studies as I had one more module left and I didn't want to spoil that chance. That chance worked for me as I passed my last and final module and got my degree. Martin (my USQ classmate) called me up and asked me if I was still looking for a job. I told him yes and I was put to his manager. We spoke and then the manager asked me to come to the office for an interview.
I went for the interview and a few days later, I got the job and so I got my next assignment as an IT Trainer at Sengkang Sec on the 16th of Mar 2006. Again, it was adapting to a new school culture, getting to know the teachers and students better. I had fun there (albeit a few small problems which I don't want to mention here) at Sengkang Sec but then again, come 31st of Jan 2007. I was told (nicely, of course) by my HOD that the school needed only 1 IT Trainer and it wasn't me. I was a little sad because I was already adapting to the school and found it quite comfortable there.
My company told me that Bartley Secondary had a vacancy for me. I went over to Bartley and met Yi Xin who was also from my company but was posted to Bartley Sec. Met up with the HOD IT who was a nice guy but during the interview, I told him that I wanted a job that is more secure, stable and pays more and he agreed with me. So I turned down the job offer not because I didn't want but because this IT Training sector dosent provide me with the stability that I needed. After the interview, I told Marilyn that I wanted something more solid.
So I don't have a job....Where to get the money? By doing freelancing! At one time, I was doing 2 projects. 1 at Sengkang Sec (yes, my former workplace) and another at Bukit Batok Sec where I taught the Digital Art Club students Flash. It was the project at Bukit Batok Sec that was to be my last stint as an IT Trainer. That day is today - 16th of May 2007.
From the 27th of Sep 2005 - 16th of May 2007, I have thoroughly enjoyed myself being an IT Trainer and I hope the students that I've taught have learnt something from me. I have met some wonderful teachers in Springfield Sec, Sengkang Sec and Bukit Batok Sec and it was good to have met them as well.
With this, I end this post of mine and I hope that you, the reader, would find it an interesting read :)
