Youth Mass

I'll be playing drums for Youth Mass tomorrow...my 1st time playing drums too! nervous..no...excited...no... I just want to do it right...for the few practices that I've done...I didnt quite get good review from Adrian and Stephen. Guess they had high expectations of me la..BUT I shall work my ass off for this Youth Mass and will probably not be playing drums again for such an event =) I feel stressed when I don't do well for the instrument that I'm playing or maybe when both Adrian and Stephen are around... probably for worship is fine...

Well, all the best to me! Have to be in church by 9.45 am!!

Haven't been blogging much lately but felt that there was a need to do so today. Had a wonderful weekend :) Charismatic was good, supper after charismatic was good, supper @ CRH was good although it was raining and there was a surplus of food which wasn't really required but then again...it was the thought that counted...Mass during the weekend was good although we had to rush a bit and I loved singing in parts too...I really enjoyed it and I hope the presenters and the participants loved it as well...

Was watching the Portsmouth - Liverpool match this morning and althougth the 1st half was kinda boring, the 2nd half exploded into life!!! 3 goals to 2 and what a comeback as well!! I thought Pool were goners after Babel missed that sitter but I must say credit to Benitez for putting in the Kuyt, Alonso and Torres at the right time..

I had a good weekend and I felt really good :-)

Had 2 appointments over the weekend.

1st appointment was to meet up with J to have a look at my insurances. Had dinner @ Far East Plaza and then coffee @ StarBucks and I really had a good discussion with her. I also found out that some of the insurances that I have don't quite seem to meet up with my expectations and I definitely will be making some changes soon...

2nd appointment was to go to V's place for lunch as part of the Lunar New Year visitation. Was looking forward to seeing B and I'm really glad I got to see her...She is getting cuter as the months roll by....Can't wait to play with her when she gets older!!!

After getting back from V's place, I decided to play on my Soprano Sax and suddenly, it felt as if I could play without any difficulty. Previously, I had a little difficulty playing as I think I wasn't used to such a small mouthpiece but I think I'm getting better!! Need to get more accompaniment scores with CDs cos they are so fun to play with!!!

As the subject title above says, I'm wishing all of you a Bull-licious New Year! Time really flies and its now in the year of the Ox!! What I like about CNY (besides the holidays) is the food cos I get to eat my favourite bak kwa and pineapple tarts!!

By the way, I have not bought my new year shirt too!! This year kinda slack though...Will have to buy it today then as its the last day..will buy it after mass....

I'm back from my reservist and lots of things have happened while I was in camp. Firstly, this was my unit's 7th ICT which meant that we are being assessed during Ex Lion and the result would mean either we having another high key (if we dont do well) or a low key (if we do well). The result was that we had done well and it will be low key for us all the way till we MR!!!

Also, we were issued with the new pixelised uniform. Initially, I thought it looked kinda ugly cos I am used to the usual colour since BMT but after looking at the advantages, I was kinda bowled over by it. It's lighter and more cooling so that I won't be perspiring so much!! My company was also told that we would be participating in this year's SAF Day...There were quite a number of protests due to the schedule but I guess if we were called to serve, we serve. Don't know how things will work out but God will take care of things.

Met Vicky yesterday for dinner and I really enjoyed it a lot and I hope she did too!! We talked about the old times when we were in Thomson Band and the people we knew and what are they doing now..Kinda like an updating thingy...I do hope to meet up with her again...if time permits =)

Soprano Sax & In Camp Training

I finally got my Soprano Sax!!! Have been contemplating for quite a while now to get one..so now I have got 2 saxophones..1 Soprano and 1 Tenor....

Currently on my weekend break in between my In Camp Training. During the 1st week of the ICT, I found out that we would be getting the pixelated uniform (to my horror!! cos I had already gone to the Chevrons to sew my formation badge etc etc) and the worse part was, when we got the new uniform, everything has already been done for us =s

Sigh...If I had known, I need not take the trouble to go down and sew all 5 uniforms!!!

Had an ok Friday at work although some parts were not so good...wished I had not asked my boss that question..will definitely be more prepared the next time and I will be..felt that I was gunned down this morning...anyway, I think more of my colleagues, except for a few, are beginning not to like my boss...don't want to talk about it anymore...

Yes! I'm looking forward to tomorrow..It will be a packed day tomorrow for me...Have to be in sch by 0830 hrs..will try to take some photos..had our last practice today and Jason brought the soprano sax! I tried playing it but the sound sounded more like an oboe than anything else...will look around for a 2nd hand soprano sax!

I know its been such a llloooooonnnggg time since I last wrote my last post. Lots of things have happened since then - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. But I'm also lucky to have friends who were there for me and stood by my side in times of need.

So far, things have been pretty good for me. I really can't complain much because The Lord has taken very good care of me all these years. I feel fortunate too, to have a wonderful family and also people who love me for what I am. Real genuine love =)

By the way, I need to get Christmas presents too! I know what to get for Monkey and Ah Pui already. Dunno what to get for Char Bor, Mum and Dad. Hopefully, in the days to come I will know what to get =)

Prepping for Viva Musica III

I had a good time last week practising the 3 pieces for Viva Musica III but unfortunately, the piece that I would liked to hear was taken out and that is the song that you are hearing now! Anyways, I also enjoyed the other 2 pieces that we are going to play and that would be Evergreen 70s and We Are The World. However, there will be another replacement for Can't Hurry Love which my friends and I will be looking through once I have the date =)

Really looking forward to playing it @ Victoria Concert Hall! Charismatic was good as well! Enjoyed singing for the Lord! Also looking forward to next Friday!!!!!! :D :D :D

Feeling Good

My fears about driving the company transport was quelled when I found out that it wasn't so difficult driving it! Of course, my colleagues were having a dig at me la but in a nice way cos they know that I'm the relief-relief driver...Hahaha...Yesterday's charismatic prayer meet was good and it was nice to see friends again.. I know in one of my posts I have been feeling lousy but the main aim / focus was to do it for God and no one else...that changed my prespective after talking to C. Thanks C! You have been such a great listener ;)

Today's Choice Election has been great as well! Really enjoyed the whole session especially the sharing given by our Spiritual Director, Fr. Fred. I finally got what I wanted 2 years ago and that was to be in the Communications sub-committee! I have since relinquished my role as Hospitality Single and now my new portfolio is Communications Single with the Communications Couple being Daren and Jenny! I am definitely going to look forward working with the both of them as well as working with the new Choice committee!

A Cool Thursday

It was a cool and drizzling Thursday morning and I boarded the bus. Not expecting that the trip would take 1 hour odd!!! I knew something wasn't right when the traffic started jamming at the cross junction of AMK Ave 3 and AMK Ave 6. I discovered later that there was an accident along Lornie Road.

Anyway, work went pretty well. Went to BCA with Yiting and Bee Lan to discuss with the BCA people to talk about the technical issues regarding RE / RTO matters. Took the train to get to Khatib Camp but in the end found out that there was no RT at all!! The camp didn't look like its usual state. Normally, I would see cars parked at the carpark and people walking towards the camp but today, it was different.

There were hardly any cars parked at the carpark and I didn't see anyone walking towards the camp! Luckily, I met Ah Siong who signalled to me when I came down from the bus that there wasn't any RT. We chatted for a while as to how it happened and ended our conversation when I left the bus.

Oh yeah...I forgot...another one of my colleague has left. Kindly see the post dated 21st July. I will be driving the company van tomorrow =( and its a manual!!!! Kinda scared cos I havent driven a manual car in 6 years! Hopefully, with some test drives, I should get my confidence back.... Wish me luck!!!

Anyway, on another topic, my time doing RT is about to end. I've got 2 weeks more before finishing and hopefully I don't need to do RT anymore. Why I'm saying this is because there is this new program called IPT which is definitely better than RT. Although its voluntary BUT you are execused from RT even though you failed your IPPT. That's good news!

From today onwards, I will try my best to cut down on my weight and also to jog every day cos I really want to have a flat tummy!!!

Music of the Spheres

I had a good Saturday yesterday.

Was basically slacking the whole morning and went for my 1st Youth Worship Ministry meeting. I discovered that all of them were younger than me!!!! But nonetheless, it was ok la and I had no problem blending in with them. I somehow feel that the people in YWM are better than CPG (better in what terms, you might ask but I prefer not to discuss it here) but that has yet to be seen. Maybe down the road I might have a change in feelings...who knows?!??!

After my YWM meeting, we went to the coffeeshop and chatted for a while before I had to leave for home and thereafter, meet Albert to go for the Music of the Spheres concert. I reached Raffles Hotel at around 6pm and called Albert since he wasn't around Seah Street Deli. Albert was still @ Novena so I decided to go to Bras Basah Complex as it was my 1st time there (don't laugh! I'm serious!!!) I know that there were a couple of music shops and so I went there to take a look..Most of them were selling guitars and hardly any wind instruments. I went into Swee Lee and asked if they have any saxophone cases. I was actually looking for a case that has wheels attached so that I don't have to carry my sax around! I was quite happy that the alto sax case has got what I wanted and I asked if they have the same type but for tenor sax. Unfortunately, the salesperson said that what they have on display is what they have. =( My search still goes on....

Anyway, I met up with Albert, had dinner @ Miss Clarity along Purvis Street, Winny joined us later and after our dinner, we went to Raffles Hotel where we met Anne and Alvin. Fell.E and Alin soon joined us. The concert started although it a bit late and we were entertained with the music that followed. I must say that all the 3 choirs had voices as if they came down from the heavens! It was THAT angelic! Coincidentally, it was my 1st Choral Concert too! I definitely will be looking out for more choral performances in time to come!

Failing to talk when it really matters

Haiz..Had supper with my church friends. I dunno...maybe it was because I was tired or they were tired or I dunno what...Somehow or rather I couldn't click with them and when C was asking me a question...well...I guess I failed in those few seconds cos I didn't know how to answer her!!! Haha...I guess they must have found me quite weird cos I wasn't talking a lot but thats me la. I tend to listen more than talk and when it came to the crunch, I was stuttering and stammering away...I dunno why it happened but it did :(

So far, my verdict about being in this group is that I feel like I don't belong cos people start to get into their own clicks and talk about things that only they know about. I feel left out. My perception could be wrong as I've only just joined this group and only getting to know the people slightly better.... God prove me wrong!

Holiday

Lots of things and events have happened since the last post and although I won't be able to regurgitate but I'm happy to say that things are going well for me. I recently joined 2 ministries in church to improve my faith formation and I think it has helped in a way.

The last weekend has been tiring cos of the Choice weekend and also my other activities during that weekend as well. This holiday has been a good midweek break for me to catch up on my sleep =) but apparently, I need more sleep!!! argh....

You'll Never Walk Alone

Got up this morning to go to Colin's place to see how I could do to make the best out of the videos that Colin took during the conference but I never expected something unpleasant to happen. I was installing the updates and pressed the shutdown button but when I turned the iMac on again, it refused to allow me to enter the password for some strange reason. I did all I could and even called the Apple Support Line but still it couldn't work. So I thought of Molly and Leonard as they are also Mac users.

I made arrangements for them to come to my place to take a look at the iMac as Colin and Mad will be out till midnight. So they came at around 7 plus and I showed Leonard what the problem was. We tried all ways and means to resolve the problem but still we were unable to enter the password! So I guess I will have to bring it down to iShop and let the technicians have a look.

In the meantime, the Liverpool - United match was being played and I mentally prepared myself that Liverpool will lose, even though I didn't want them to lose but over the years, I have been disappointed many times so I'm resigned to the fact that Liverpool will lose everytime they play United whether it's home or away. But surprisingly, Liverpool won and after 5 seasons of losing to United!!! I just hope that this trend will continue...and now, for the win @ Old Trafford...that would even be sweeter!!!!

Got out of bed slightly early than usual and took the bus @ 0730 hrs and reached Binjai @ 0815 hrs...bought breakfast and happened to see Boss and Susan walking on the way up. As I needed to do something to the server much earlier in the day, I decided to walk up with them. Finally, after about an hour, everything worked and I'm glad that it did.

Uncle Goh, our driver, was sick and so lunch plans had to change. Had lunch @ Milk and Honey with Joyce, Edmund and Yiting. We all concurred that work wasnt getting as much fun as it used to be. Before, we had Jenny and Brenda. But now, due to the handiwork of some people, work isnt as fun as it used to be...soon my workplace will be such a dread to go to...got the Pui Liu Liu, Eggplant and the Double-Headed Snake....They have already started to form their own clan...I have yet to think of a name....

Anyways, I was nodding my head in the bus on the way back....guess my brain juice was fully drained....just wished that I could lean my head against something...sigh....

Today was one of my laziest Saturdays ever! didn't do much today except for reading the papers and going to central to pay mum's bill and to change the address on my IC.

Bought a cooling fan for my lappy cos it was getting quite hot.

After we came back from the conference, we had a chill out @ Phillis & Lings place where there were about 30 of us. The Singapore contingent also performed in front of our own peers and it was great!

I also met up with a friend for dinner and a movie. =) I had a nice conversation with her during dinner and also after the movie.

And today, I decided to go the Charismatic Prayer Meeting @ Christ the King. It was something that I would like to go again cos I love singing the praise and worship songs =)

My Choice Asian Conference

My apologies to my readers for not updating. I was busy and at times, I have to admit that I'm lazy to blog... Haha

Well then..back to my experience about the Conference.

It was my first time in Kuching (the venue of the Conference) and I was looking forward to it! Upon reaching the hotel, I met up with the other Choicers from the different countries and I am so amazed as to how this programme has touched the lives of the people who have gone through this programme.

I felt good mixing around with the other Choicers and also to expand my social circle :) being in the conference gave me an even stronger boost to work in Choice. We also got to learn new action songs, some which were quite funny like the Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds action song taught to us by Doris from Choice Macao.

And on our own, we had seafood, which till this day I wont forget! All in all for those 5 days, it was a much needed break from work and also a good time to making new friends!

Moving House

I will be moving back to Ang Mo Kio with effect from tomorrow and I must say I'm quite elated coming back to my "hometown"! Ang Mo Kio has developed tremendously ever since we left and there will be more places to eat, 2 cinemas to go to, nearer to my Choice friends etc etc. So I'm really looking forward to going back.....Yippie!

I've been slowly packing my things to be brought over to AMK. But the packing has been going real slow so I've decided to try and pack finish all my stuff tomorrow once I've gone to pay a visit to my grandfather who passed away.

I also managed to get the last season of JAG and I'm really enjoying every minute of it! Also, I will need to prepare the materials for our cultural night @ the Choice Asian Conference. It will be again a busy weekend for me!

Dark Night and a Wonderful Monday

Had a fruitful time today. Woke up at 9 plus and discovered that Monie took my toothbrush! I smsed to him to confirm that he took my toothbrush and so we had no choice but to swap toothbrushes..eewww...

Had breakfast @ mcdonalds and after breakfast, started packing some of my stuff in the boxes as we are going to move soon back to AMK. Char bor cooked Fried Pasta for the 3 of us (it was nice by the way) and we waited for Monkey and Janey to come back before proceeding to watch Dark Knight. I decided that since Monkey, Janey and Char Bor were on off, it would be good to watch a movie together. Missed a bit of the start when we entered the cinema but enjoyed the rest of the movie!

A Mad Week Ahead

Tomorrow will be a mad day for me reason being is that IESA will be coming over to IES! And I've got to settle the logistical problems, if any. Friday will be more like a half day for me as I will be bringing the 3 laptops and 3 printers over to Hotel Rendezvous for Brenda's IEA Workshop. I've got to go down on Sunday as well to fix up everything.

Just got back from my Batam trip with some of the Choicers.

Woke up at 0550 hours, had a shower and cooked instant noodles. Got dressed and took the train to HarbourFront station where I met up with Nick, Jen, Winny and Leonard as well as the other volunteers who were going to Batam. The volunteers went there to teach while us, the Choicers were there to see what we could do in our capacity to make the livelihood of the students better.

It was interesting to see how the children lead their lives and it makes me see what I can do also but that is yet to be decided. After leaving the place, we all went to this shopping mall (I can't remember the name) and we had A & W!!! It has been ages since I last ate A & W but I didn't want to overgorge myself. So I had a Root Beer Float and Waffle Ice Cream =)

We then went shopping for Indomie, where I bought 2 cartons of 2 flavours each - Pedas and Bawang. The other Choicers and I after shopping for the instant noodles, went to J.Co to buy their doughnuts and after buying we headed for home.

I have been thinking about this issue before I slept and while on the trip home, I was still resting and thinking about the issue. I need to pray about it and see what God has planned for me.

Woke up, showered and got dressed. Went down to the taxi stand but regretted not calling the cab earlier. Anyway, I wasn't late. Although I was supposed to report at 1000 hrs but reached Furama Riverfront @ 1015 hrs. Everything went well and this 42nd AGM is a very special one because it is the 1st time in IES history that the president will be a female.

On another note, I spoke to Hon Sec about my job scope and he understands the changes going on in IES and I just really hope that I can only do IT work. Let's see how it goes. Initially, I thought of leaving but after the short talk with Hon Sec, I decided to stay for a while and see how it goes, whether they will put words into action.

Had a wonderful Sat today.

Went to Blessed Sacrament church to celebrate Colin & Mad's 20th Wedding Anniversary.

Don't know what was wrong with Dad today. Kept on harping on the little errors that I made. Could have blown my top but whats the use? I just kept quiet. Think I will let him drive whenever he is in the car. No doubt about it.

Tim came over to my place to collect his desktop after I upgraded his RAM from 256 MB to 2 GB! He installed some of his software and left. I wont be seeing him for the next 4 years. God knows what will happen to me in these 4 years.....

I installed Company of Heroes : Opposing Fronts after borrowing it from Toa Payoh library and will be playing it after downloading the many patches from the Internet. Looking forward to playing it after I send this post!

Met Choicers from the different weekends and we first had dinner @ Fisherman's Wharf and then walked to the Armenian Church for Taize. Its an interesting experience =) thinking of going there another time and I loved the singing.

After Taize, we headed down to Timbre (or that was the initial idea) but it was crowded and there was a queue so we decided to go down to Clarke Quay instead and look for any place where we could sit down and eat (not me eating but more so for Ivan and Albert because they have not eaten).

There were lots of drinks with sexually-referenced names and its interesting how they can piece the name with the drink. Anyway, I didnt talk much cos I was feeling sleepy and I like to listen more than talk so I hope that Nick, Peter, Mel, Molly and Ivan didnt feel that I was trying to be left out or anything like that.

Went home in a cab and met some of my students from Sengkang Sec and it felt good to be still recognised by them.

There will be a jog tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it....

Had a tired day today. Woke up but wished that I had more sleep. Commando asked me to ask and see if I wanted to go bowling @ NTUC Downtown East. I didn't mind cos I have not been bowling for quite sometime already and the thought of going down to play excited me.

Had great fun. My highest score was 113 @ the 2nd round but 1st, 3rd and 4th were below 100. 1st round was 77, 3rd round was 76 and 4th round was 66. I guess my right hand was tired by then.

A Wonderful Thursday and A Tired Friday

I had a wonderful dinner on Thursday. Mum, Dad, Char Bor and I went to meet my mum's friend and a couple of other friends for dinner. Went to Mellben @ Toa Payoh Lor 8 and had 4 different types of crab - Butter Crab, Chilli Crab, Crab with Bee Hoon and Black Pepper Crab! Of course, those crabs were amongst the other dishes that we ate but other than that, it was just superb!

Took 1/2 day today to have my 5 sets of uniform sewed completely. Went to The Chevrons to do it and bought my Gortex boots too. I didn't realise how tired I was until I was walking towards Jurong East station and going home. Took the train to Woodlands and changed to 161 and I slept. Missed the bus stop that I usually drop at and got down the next bus stop.

Will be having dinner afterwards....

Just got back from the Council Retreat held @ NSRCC and it was interesting to hear the Council come up with different ideas on how to improve IES but feeling tired at the same time.

Day 8 - 14th Jan 08

It's Day1 of our Battaltion Mission Exercise aka BME. We set out at around 0600 hours and reached Simpang at 0730 hours and spent most of our time waiting in the tonner as some of the places that we are assigned to have not been decided yet. After that, most of the day was filled with filling and carrying sandbags.

The one thing that we could not control was the weather. The weather during this week was quite bad. It was raining today thus causing the ground to be super muddy and so we had to fill and carry the sandbags in the muddy environment and finished around midnight. I removed my boots, socks and shirt before I slept but didn't realise that it was so freezing cold! Grrr.

Day 9 - 15th Jan 08

Woke up @ 0508 hrs and it was still feeling cold. Did the usual sand filling and packing. We were told to help 'C' Coy with the packing of the sand. Looks like we are helping everyone except ourselves. Sometimes I get a little tired of being asked to fill sandbags. The rest of the gang are feeling tired too. Slept @ 0100 hrs.

Day 10 - 16th Jan 08

Woke up @ 0530 hrs to the coldness of the morning. Brushed teeth, had breakfast and then moved off to somewhere. I can't remember the name! At around 1000 hrs, we moved to 'C' sector. It was quite a good rest. Moved out again to another sector to do prowling. Had dinner and night came. I was in Detail 1 and we got ready to our prowling. Prowling was ok except for the muddy ground which we had to wade (literally) through.

Our detail finished our shift and Detail 2 came to take over us. Got back to the tonner and rested for a while before changing into my new No 4 and underwear. Waited for Detail 2 to finish and then went to pick them up. After picking them up, we went to a location to sleep.

Day 11 - 17th Jan 08

Woke up @ 0545 hrs, brushed teeth and had breakfast. We were told by Staff Ho to help Pioneer unload the sandbags from BCP and later to cover the shellscrape made by 120. But when we were @ BCP, orders were changed. We were told just to cover the 120 shellscrape and head back for camp!!!! We were happy to hear that and our morale was high.

Left the site @ 0934 hrs after a few unplanned hiccups and reached camp @ 1030 hrs. I'm so grateful to be back as we got to shower!! Sent arms and had combat rations for lunch. Later in the afternoon, we helped Pioneer to unload the zinc sheets, wash them up and put them back into the store. @ 2230 hrs, we had a platoon debrief @ the Lion's Den where PC, PS and some of our guys voiced out what they felt during the recent BME.

After the closure, Pang, Tariq & I had something light to eat. I later joined PC, PS, Wong, Terence & Tariq and discussed about what will happen to us. Later, CSM & RSM joined us. Slept @ 0212 hrs.

Reservist Updates Part 1

Day 1 - 7th Jan 2008

I woke up to the sound of my alarm and got ready to go to Clementi Camp. I needed a change in my uniform top as it was too small already. Parents dropped me off at Clementi Camp just in time. "Checked In" as usual and walked towards the In-Pro area and saw 3 ex-musicians from the SAF Bands - Shawn, Albert (both from Band B) and William from Band A. Got in-processed and found out that there is no bed for me! So I left my stuff at the Commanders Bunk while waiting for a room.

At 0900 hours, the whole battalion went into the auditorium to be briefed on the different things to be done when we are in camp. I was sleeping for most of the time as the speakers were quite monotonous. After everything was complete, we went for lunch and after lunch, we drew arms which we to be used later for the Change of Command parade. Rested for a while before we went for a couple fo rehearsals. I forgot to mention one thing : while waiting for the speakers to start, I was told by Zac that the 106 has been phased out and after he told me, I wondered what would happen to our platoon.

The COC parade was quite tiring and I actually dozed off while standing in the parade! Once the parade ended, we sent arms and went for dinner. Nothing unusual happened after that. I decided to report sick tomorrow as my cough wasnt running away and my blocknose was still there. Slept at around midnight.

Day 2 - 8th Jan 2008

Woke up at around 0620 hours this morning, did the usual routine and went down for breakfast. Later, I met Yusman and Zac and we reported sick together. Waiting at the Medical Centre was a pure nightmare! We waited for almost 5 hours to see the Medical Officer! During those 5 hours, we went up to the bunk for a while. 1/2 hour later, Zac was worried that our number may be missed and so the 3 of us wlaked down to the Medical Centre to see our number. When we were there, it was only number 5! Our numbers were 44, 46 and 47. We waited until Yusman & I were so bored that we walked to the canteen to eat something.

When we came back, the number was 27. At least not so bad lar. Finally, it came to my turn and I saw the MO and told him about the problems that I was facing. MO then gave me an excuse from IPPT for this ICT. Went back to bunk, changed to smart 4 and had lunch @ cookhouse. Rested again after lunch and went down with the rest of the guys to do some work for the Pioneer platoon. Finished work @1730 hours, went for dinner and prepared to book out as we had nights off. After dinner, we all waited for the green light. After green light was given, Terence gave Yusman & I a lift to Little India.

Reached home, dropped off my new uniforms, surfed the net for a while and at around 2230 hours, Monie dropped me off at camp. Talked with a few of the guys and slept at 1 am.

Day 3 - 9th Jan 2008

Woke up at 6 plus this morning, had breakfast and then slept until 1125 hours where we had lunch. After lunch, it was rest until 1500 hours where we completed the joining of the remaining zinc sheets together. I took a shower once we went up and then went down for dinner. Had last parade at 1930 hours. Tomorrow will be cohesion day. I wonder what will happen tomorrow.

Day 4 - 10th Jan 2008

Woke up at 0628 hours, did the usual morning routine and went for breakfast. After breakfast, I spoke to Pang about stuff and it was great talking to him. After lunch, we rested for a while before changing to PT attire as the dress code for the cohesion day to be held at East Coast Park. I brought some clothes back to be washed as well. We were to play Futsal for our cohesion day. Our first game was against Bravo and how rough they were! I was only in for a few seconds and then I got injured =( We lost to Bravo 3 - 0 and then drew with Delta 2 - 2. We were out. The final was played between Alpha & Delta and what a goal feast it was with Alpha winning by 5 goals to 3. Nizam brought me back to my place where I bought dinner and relaxed while waiting for him to pick me up later at 2015 hours.

Reached camp at 2048 hours, had our own company cohesion and slept at around midnight.

I mentioned in my last post that I wanted to severe my relationship with J.

But I was thinking that since its the new year might as well forgive and move on.

So I wrote an email to her telling her what I felt etc etc and she replied saying that sh would like to say sorry for the way that she was treating me. She also felt an awkward silence between her & I and I told her that why there was this awkward silence is because she requested that I stay away from her. She had a request asking me if we could still talk like before and not have this awkward silence.

After I read her request, I said ok to her because there are times when I will need her help and there are times when she needs my help. And yes, we are friends again.

I'm happy that I told her what I felt in that email.

New Year's Eve and The J Syndrome

2008 is just a couple of hours away and as I reflect on what happened the past year, I would say that things were pretty ok except for the past few months coming to the end of the year.

I am being hit by the J Syndrome AGAIN and as much as I would like NOT to get hit by the J Syndrome, it hit me again this morning. And it hit me bad. I have been thinking, I have been so nice to J but she finds my concern and attention overbearing and overwhelming. That's after she got pregnant. I'm trying very hard to give her my moral support and encouragement but I find that whatever I say and do turns into poison. She didnt want this and didnt want that and I acceeded her request and so I did what she wanted and EVEN inspite of that, I still get pushed away. Pushed so much to the edge that I have fallen off it.

We used to have a blog where we shared stuff and as I was typing on that blog, I realised that the posts that she wrote were deleted. I guess she really didnt want our friendship anymore and to me, it was the last straw. I am sick and tired of wasting my bloody time and energy on someone who isn't appreciative of what I'm doing. I thought that we could still be, at least friends, but no, she wanted to destroy the last thing that was holding our friendship together - Our Blog - and when I sent her an email, she refused or can't be bothered to reply. I am frustrated, tired and angry at having to deal with all this shit. If you want to burn the bridge, it shall be burnt. I have thought carefully about it and J isn't worth the friendship, it isnt worth it at all.

She is causing me so much hurt and pain that I think the wounds will take a very long time to heal. J once said that she didnt want to lose a good friend in me. But I think she just did.

I just hope that 2008 will be a good year for me.

I think this is one of the best christmas' I ever had.

Went for midnight mass as usual and then went over to Mike & Judith's place for a christmas gathering with the caroling gang. It was great fun listening to stories that were normal but got twisted along the way. Just reached home at 5 plus in the morning! I have never been out so late before but its Christmas anyway.

Opened presents from Monkey and J. Monkey gave me a Pool trainer jersey while J gave me a mens face protector (how appropriate cos I needed that) and shower gel from Body Shop. I think she must have noticed the many pimples I have on my face! Haha. Thanks J!

On a personal note, I try not to be sensitive lar but I find that she is avoiding me. It feels weird cos we have been quite close these past 5 months and then suddenly shes withdrawing back. Aiyah, why must I be affected by her? I have got better things to do then get bogged down by her reactions.

Looking forward to the lunch later today @ 1230 hrs @ Winny's place!

I spent the eve of eve like any other except that I was looking for this special gift that I have always wanted to give J and let me tell you this that this gift is damn hard to find! It's the Kit Kat Sakura or Cherry Blossom...I knew it was at Cold Storage Sengkang but when I went down today, to my horror, it was out of stock!!! Then after mass and lunch, I went to Tampines Mall and Century Square, crossing my fingers that it would be there but to no avail. I was at Shop and Save (Century Square) and decided that the next best thing to the Pink Kit Kat was Hershey's. I bought 2 packets.

My parents and I went down to AnchorPoint to watch Shimon carol with his friends. I was hoping that the Cold Storage @ AnchorPoint had the Pink Kit Kat. Went there and....nothing.
=( We had dinner and before we watched Shimon sing, we went to the toilet. While Dad & I were waiting for mum to come out, I went into Guardian to take a look. Lo and behold, there it was! there were about 10 packets of the Pink Kit Kat and I was thinking oh my god! I finally found it!!! I wanted J to be happy with her present so I bought 4 boxes with 2 inside each box so there were 8 Pink Kit Kats for her. I really hope that she likes them and the trouble I went through to get it for her. She knows that the Pink Kit Kat is very hard to get. I promised her that I would get it for her and I'm just really glad that I did!

It's been an exciting week. Work has slowed down and today my siblings and I (less the char bor) will be celebrating my parents 30th Wedding Anniversary @ the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 3 pm.

It's raining now as I write this blog but my spirit isn't dampened. Rain, in this instance, comes as a shower of blessings from God =)

I will need to stop writing now and print a few things that my mum has respectfully requested me to print and will definitely upload pics here! So stay tuned....

I must say that it was fun yesterday to see so many young people around! Talked to some new people and got to know them and it has been interesting. Got to know some more people from Choice as well =) Overall, I must say it has been wonderful and I enjoyed the party. J was completely forgotten from my mind and its of much relief.

Difficulty

It has been difficult trying to adapt and understand the way J is reacting towards me. I think probably the reason why is because I was very close to her and the way that J is treating me is like I'm a thorn in her flesh. Nothing I do will ever look good in her eyes.

I actually planned to give her a special christmas present but since our relationship is somewhat strained, I think better not since it might give her my overwhelming concern and attention. The thing is that I actually bought some components of the present and wanted to give it a personal touch. So I guess I will only wish her a Merry X'mas then. However, I think I should have it done, just in case, she gave me a present (if I'm lucky enough and if she isnt in one of her moods)

Never mind..I will lay off her for the next few months and see how things go. I must have my mind on other things so that my heart and mind wont be resting on such issues. If she isn't bothered then why must I? Heck. I'm going to enjoy the carolling laters!

There has been much going on these past few days. You will not be able to see the photos currently as I'm experiencing some technical difficulties in uploading the photos. I've had much fun travelling to some new places like Restoran Kolam Ikan in Kulim. The fish is solid!

As for today, we went to visit the resting place of my great-grandfather who bought the plot of land. Its interesting to note that the tombstone was quite big and on top of the hill as well. I will find out more on whatever I can find out about my late great-grandfather =)

It's the 3rd day of my trip and I'm not feeling well =( what a bummer. Nothing much to report except that there are more photos as usual!

This post will be a combination of 1st and 2nd Dec.

1st Dec - Day 1

Woke up with much enthusiasm about the trip. Dreaming of the char kway teow, kway teow th'ng and other local delicacies that my 2nd hometown has to offer. Started to pack my stuff and after packing my stuff, had to give the bag to my mum who will bring it down to the car. Mum & Dad had a wedding to attend and would later go straight to Clementi as planned.

On my side, I ironed my shirt, had a shower, went down to get lunch for Monkey & Tua Pui. Quickly consumed my lunch and off I went. Took the train to Outram Park where I changed to get to Clementi. The rendezvous for Mum, Squirtly and I.

Upon reaching Clementi, we waited for a while before the private taxi driver came. Going through both customs was a breeze. We left Clementi @ around 3 plus and reached Senai airport @ 4 something. Flight departure was 1920 hours but we went there early in case unforseen circumstances happened.

Plane took off @ 1930 hours and reached Penang @ 2020 hours. Got our luggage and waited for Uncle Boy to give us a lift back to Sungei Ara. Once we got into the MPV, we headed straight for kway teow th'ng! It felt so good after eating it. Went home after that to have a shower and sleep.

2nd Dec - Day 2

Woke up to a brand new day at Sungei Ara. Liza dropped us off at Aunty Daisy's place and from there we went to have breakfast @ Super Tanker. Had curry mee, gu leng peng (AGAIN) and this pancake thingy. After breakfast, went to church =)

After church, Aunty Daisy actually wanted to bring us to this place for lunch but as most of the stalls were closed, she decided to get Chee Cheong Fun for us instead. We drove slightly down and we had coconuts!!!

Aunty Daisy's house

Rested for a while at Aunty Daisy's house before Christina drove mum and I to Queensbay Mall. I must say the view outside Queensbay Mall is magnificent! We walked around the shop lots, I bought 2 shirts from Padini, went to Starbucks for drinks, went back to Sungei Ara and rested for a while before going to Aunty Bee's place to have dinner and discuss on what needs to be done for grandparents mass tomorrow (which is today).

Met up with A at Vivocity.

It was refreshing talking to someone again and coming from a different background. We had dinner but I think I did a boo boo in the sense that I didnt draw enough money =( I just hope that A didn't have a bad impression of me.

After dinner, we watched Bee Movie and its nice and heart-warming as well. I sent A back to her place and after that I went home.

Thats the gist of it...I dont want to put in the details =)

Yesterday was my cousin's wedding @ Goodwood Park Hotel. It was slightly different as she was getting married to an Italian. It looks like my extended family will be international. Lawson married a Chinese from China, Alicia married an Italian and Ben (Lawson's brother) will be marrying a Thai-Chinese.

Had a couple of events and so was quite busy for a while...Anyway, here are the updates, my colleague, Valerie got married to Colin on the 20th of October 2007 (All the best and congrats to the both of them!). Val was saying to have the montage on Powerpoint but I did one better, to use Windows Movie Maker instead and it turned out to be a success! Both Colin & Valerie liked the montages alot.

Last Friday was one of the best days of my life. J came over and I cooked dory with spaghetti. After that, J was feeling tired so she rested for a while. About an hour later, we went down for a swim. It was great fun! Went for dinner, watched Evan Almighty and later sent her home.

There were other small events that happened in between but I would prefer to keep it a secret. Only J and I knew what happened :)
